Our goal is to use the medium of computer games and simulations
to create highly effective learning experiences, which
deliver measurable real world organisational results.
What makes us different?
As experts in this rapidly growing field, PIXELearning
deliver highly-effective: subject, sector and organisationally-specific,
learning experiences, that generic products simply cannot
match.
Our technology platforms have been designed to enable
us to do this quickly, with a minimum of fuss, and on
a cost-effective basis.

Why we do
it
Games-based learning (which is also known as ‘Serious
Games’) encourages higher order thinking and builds
confidence, practical knowledge and, for example, problem
solving, analytical and communication skills.
Games-based learning solutions are based upon authentic
vocationally-relevant scenarios which are meaningful to
learners. This, and the compelling nature of the learning
experience, motivates learners and directly increases job-specific
competencies and real world performance.
Who we do it for
Our focus is upon two core areas: business and management
skills development; and, business and enterprise education.
We provide solutions which are primarily aimed at organisations
who want to 'up skill' their workforce at all levels, and
at
educational institutions who teach business-related subjects.
|
|
We also provide bespoke solutions to
organisations that have particular requirements for which
our underlying technology platforms are not best suited.
What about our current clients
& projects
Our historical client base spans a diverse range of sectors
including: private training companies, higher education
institutions, further education colleges, public sector
bodies, government agencies, museums, and media
broadcasters.
We have also established partnerships with national and
international
eLearning and training providers, and a charitable foundation
that provides business education to secondary schools.

| Your challenges |
Our solutions |
The potential benefits of eLearning
(e.g. reduced cost and increased accessibility) are
often overshadowed by the poor quality of the actual
learning experience. |
Serious Games draw upon
the power of computer games to captivate, enthral
and engage people. The learning experience is truly
interactive, multi-faceted and appropriately challenging.
|
Conventional eLearning is heavily
biased upon information transfer (the subject theory)
but lacks opportunities for meaningful interaction. |
Serious Games deliver ‘learning
by doing’; authentic learning experiences where
the setting, narrative, processes and actions are
relevant to the learning requirement. |
Entertainment-orientated game developers
have little or no expertise in learning assessment
design, and in the measurement of performance
improvements.
|
PIXELearning’s technology
platforms have been designed from the ground up for
learning applications and have, at their core, a powerful
suite of assessment features. |
Generic (off-the-shelf) products
fail to be subject, sector, and organisationally relevant,
because they are designed for the mass market and
are full of assumptions. |
PIXELearning’s ethos has been
to create a suite of easily configurable Serious Games
‘engines’. We have invested heavily in
these to ensure that they can be used to make highly
customised solutions that perfectly match your organisational
objectives and your learner’s needs, in a
cost-effective manner. |
Organisations which can benefit
most from games-based learning are rarely technical
experts, and do not possess game and simulation design
skills.
|
PIXELearning’s focus is upon
removing the technical complexity from the process.
This ensures that learning needs assessment and solution
design is based upon your learning needs, commercial
objectives, time constraints, and available resources. |
Game design is a very complex process,
and traditional eLearning and CBT developers lack
the technical capability and conceptual game design
skills that are needed to create Serious Games.
|
Serious Games development
is PIXELearning’s sole activity, and our team
has been assembled specifically for this purpose.
