PIXELearning to support Enterprise Week

Make Your Mark logo

PIXELearning is thrilled to be supporting the Make Your Make Campaign and Enterprise Week again this year. The Business Game has been developed to introduce business concepts such as cash flow and marketing to support GCSE Business Studies students as well as adults interested in improving their business skills awareness. Free access is available to any school, pupil, adult in fact anyone to use either for entertainment or as part of a structured enterprise session. Also available free is a complete teacher’s guide on how to use The Business Game in a structured classroom session along with other non computer based activities to support The Business Game.


October 2007

New sales contracts, reseller wins and exhibition presence.

October was a very busy time for PIXELearning which is fast becoming Europe's leading specialist provider of immersive learning simulations and Serious Games for the corporate training and business education sectors. Highlights included:

- PIXELearning has secured several significant projects with a very well known 'Big 4' accountancy firm in the US. This follows on from a highly-successful project for the same client which was delivered in Q2 and which has adjudged by the client to be hugely successfully in terms of learner engagement and bottom line business benefits.

- PIXELearning has delivered a CD-based version of the Skillsmart Retail game for all UK secondary schools. The CD contains extra careers assistance and resources as well as a comprehensive teacher's lesson plan.

- PIXELearning will be exhibiting at the World of Learning Conference & Exhibition (WOLCE) on 14th and 15th NOvember at the Birmingham NEC. Come see us on stand E100.

- PIXELearning have secured two new EU-funded projects to create educational learning simulations worth €160,000.

- The Enterprise Game is now being used in Swedish universities after successfully contract wins through our Swedish reseller partner Zimulus

- PIXELearning has begun the development of an exciting learning simulation for Coca Cola Enterprises which is aimed at enhancing UK schools enterprise education programmes.

More conferences & exhibitions

PIXELearning will be delivering a presentation covering the Diversity and Inclusion training simulation project being undertaken for a large US retail bank at Serious Games Sessions Europe in Lyon. Kevin Corti will be co-presenting with Mr Oris Stuart of Global Lead Management Consulting, one of the world's foremost diversity training consultancies.

Kevin is also presenting at the Midlands ICT Conference in Birmingham on 22nd November where he will be delivering a case study presentation detailing PIXELearning's success in achieving rapid growth through international trading.

PIXELearning have also recently featured as key speakers at the ETSA simulations conference (17th October, DTI, London) and exhibited in Barcelona at Personal Espana.

PIXELearning CEO speaks at Serious Virtual Worlds conference

Interestingly the event was also streamed live into Second Life where the events audience extended beyond the two hundred or so people who attended in 'first life'.

Serious Games Sessions Europe 2007

PIXELearning CEO, Kevin Corti, has joined the Advisory Board of the Serious Games Session Europe conference to be held in Lyon, France on 3rd December 2007.

Kevin has also recently joined the Advisory Board of the Advantage West Midlands Serious Games-focused IDM project.

PIXELearning to present at Serious Games conference in Sweden

PIXELearning CEO, Kevin Corti, has been invited to present at the 'Serious Games - practice and futures' event in Skövde, Sweden on 18th to 19th September.

The event is being hosted at the University of Skövde and in conjunction with the Coventry University Serious Games Institute and is supported by European Union funding.

PIXELearning & Global Lead showcase the 'Diversity Game'

In a presentation entitled; "Serious Games; The Client's Viewpoint", Oris Stuart, Managing Partner of US-based Global Lead showcased the forthcoming PIXELearning produced 'serious game' aimed at enhancing diversity and inclusion training.

The 'Diversity Game' is being co-developed by PIXELearning and Global Lead for, initially, a large US Retail Bank and one of the world's largest convenience food brands. The event was an eLearning Age Magazine workshop dedicated to Serious Games and played to a packed audience.

PIXELearning to present at Apply Serious Games'07

PIXELearning CEO, Kevin Corti, has been invited to present at the Apply Serious Games'07 conference in London on 28th June. Other speakers taking part are from Cisco, Forterra, NC Soft, BreakAway Games, Ambient Performance, Birmingham and Coventry Universities.

"Apply Serious Games is now in its second year, following on from the success of ASG 2006 that had around 100 attending, representing the serious games community from across Europe - with some attendees coming from Hong Kong. They were leading executives from development, publishing (games and learning), branding, visualisation and the commissioning of organisational training.

Once again this year we are focused on the issues that make a statement of where the community is when we talk about serious games - what's the latest buzz, where's the reality of the application? There are also plenty of opportunities for networking over lunch and breaks throughout the day".

PIXELearning announce threefold revenue increases

Coventry, UK-based Serious Games developer PIXELearning has reported a nearly threefold increase in annual revenues for the period 2006/07 compared to the previous trading year. Furthermore with significant orders already confirmed, and the frequency of enquiries growing daily, the company predicts a similar rate of growth in the current fiscal year.

PIXELearning is a privately-held provider of games and simulation-based learning services, products and tools and specializes in business education and vocational and management skills development. The company reported that it has seen a significant uplift in both service-based and product sales in the UK, Europe and, in particular, in North America.

PIXELearning co-host Games-based Learning and Serious Virtual World workshops

PIXELearning co-hosted a set of Games-based Learning (GBL) and Serious Virtual Worlds workshops at the Coventry University Creativity Lab, along with NMP, and supported by the Serious Games Institute. The workshops attracted representatives from BT, PWC, Capita, the BBC, CSWP, AWM and many more.

PIXELearning win product licensing order from Coventry Enterprise Insight.

Coventry Insight, a LEGI (Local Enterprise Growth Initiative) funded enterprise initiative has placed an order with PIXELearning for the use of our The Enterprise Game and The Business Game off-the-shelf games-based learning products.

Richard Smith, PIXELearning’s Sales Director, commented: “This is continued evidence of the tremendous interest we are finding in the use of innovative eLearning 2.0 (such as game and simulation-based learning) approaches to business education and training needs. We expect to see many more orders both here in the UK and overseas”

PIXELearning deliver ‘Serious Games’ workshop

PIXELearning delivered a successful workshop for around forty representatives from the UK corporate training sector in the use of ‘Serious Games’ in conjunction with New Media Partners and the Coventry University Serious Games Institute.

The 1-day event involved a very ‘hands on’ approach where the delegates were able to run virtual businesses (based on PIXELearning’s LearningBeans platform) and to explore the use of Second Life as a tool for enhancing training provision.

PIXELearning have confirmed that the company will be exhibiting at the ExpoElearning conference and exhibition in Barcelona to be held between 22nd and 24th March.

3M commission PIXELearning for intranet-based 'mini-games'

3M have commissioned PIXELearning to create a pilot ‘mini game’ for use on their corporate intranet. The game’s purpose is to help push key company messages to staff and draws upon the now well-established ‘viral gaming’ (internal) marketing approach.

PIXELearning win large contract with major American banking corporation

PIXELearning are delighted to announce that the company has been commissioned to create a games-based diversity training solution for a major US retail banking corporation. The large project also involves a very large fast food multinational corporation (as a co-sponsor and end-user partner) and a very well established provider of traditional and eLearning diversity training solutions.

PIXELearning to create games-based learning solutions for retail education

PIXELearning is proud to announce that it has partnered with several key players in the UK retail education sector to create an online games-based solution to enhance the delivery of retail industry education courses.

The solution will be available in summer 2007 and the company will be offering a customised version of the solution to private sector companies in the retail sector thereafter.

Biggest ever contract win! - for US-based 'Big 4' accountancy firm

PIXELearning can today announce that it has secured, through competitive tender, the company’s largest ever commercial contract to deliver online game & simulation-based training solutions for one of the world’s largest accountancy practices in the USA.

“We were very impressed by this client’s ambitions and grasp of ‘Serious Games’ as a tool for enhancing traditional training and we view this as further evidence of how this market space is expanding rapidly” commented PIXELearning’s Sales Director, Richard Smith.

“Our unique capability, proprietary technology platforms and market awareness all contributed to our successfully winning this contract despite strong competition from several US-based companies.”

The solution will involve a blend of bespoke development and the customisation of PIXELearning’s proprietary LearningBeans business simulation platform and is due to be completed in summer 2007.

PIXELearning to create 'Social Business Game'

PIXELearning has entered into a partnership with a consortium of public sector bodies and not-for-profit organisations, including The Black Country Knowledge Society to create a customised implementation of our LearningBeans business simulation platform. The project will lead to the creation of a new portfolio product called The Social Business Game which should be available for general sale in July 2007.
